Services available

In-home/mobile physical therapy services are available for traditional  PT needs, including but not limited to: orthopedic dysfunction, neurologic disorders, geriatric safety enhancement, fall risk reduction training and pain management.

 Being a caregiver is a HUGE responsibility, both mentally and physically.  Ergo Amy PT is able to come into your home and provide tips and tricks when transferring your loved one to limit the strain on the caregiver's body and prevent injury.  We have extensive experience using Hoyer lifts, stand up lifts, track ceiling lifts and other various transfer aides.  You only get one back - let us teach you how to protect it!

Maintenance therapy services are a covered benefit for Medicare/Medicare advantage plans.   These are physical therapy services to maintain the person's condition or to prevent or slow further deterioration. Improvement is not a requirement for coverage.   Coverage is dependent upon, the need for a skilled physical therapist, because of either the person's special medical complications or where the needed services are of such complexity that the skills of a physical therapist are required to perform it safely and effectively.  

We provide wheelchair evaluation services, including for manual wheelchairs, electric scooters and power wheelchairs all complexities.  This begins with an initial physical therapy evaluation to determine general wheelchair needs and wheelchair accessibility.  This is followed with a second visit to meet with a wheelchair vendor for the wheelchair fitting/measuring as well as a live wheelchair trial.  Supporting documentation is generated to assist with insurance coverage of the wc.

Once the new wheelchair is ready for delivery, a physical therapy visit can  be made jointly with the wheelchair vendor for final fittings and adjustments. Learning to use a new wheelchair can be challenging.  Subsequent follow up physical therapy visits can provide training on safe wheelchair use, how to drive/operate the wheelchair and also transfer safely in/out of the wheelchair.  The focus is on learning to integrate the new wheelchair into your daily routine and activities of daily living (ADL). 

These services are designed for the wheelchair user who is medically stable but looking to improve their overall fitness/wellness.  This can include a custom tailored home exercise program adapted for in-wheelchair completion, therapist assisted stretching and soft tissue massage.

Ergo Amy PT is able to help you set up your home in the safest and easiest way possible. We will come to your home and perform a home assessment to determine how you can rearrange your space to make caring for your loved one easier.  Recommendations for home modifications can be made to allow greater accessibility, while promoting safety and functional mobility.  This includes structural recommendations to permit wheelchair mobility as well as the use of adaptive equipment.
